Overview

Please join us as we work to elevate and educate about the African American experience to its rightful place, in the middle of American history and culture here in Southern Arizona! The AAMSAZ Annual Membership categories include Student, Adult, Seniors, Family of 4, and Business/Corporate/Organization. Members shall be persons, organizations, or entities who have interests in American history and in particular the history of African Americans and Blacks.

How It Works

We welcome a full and inclusive spectrum of people and organizations. By Joining AAMSAZ, you become a large part of an effort to advance AAMSAZ, can participate in programs and activities about cultures and history, and watch history unfold about people who have always been here.

Annual dues are collected at any time during the year and are dated and effective from January 1st through December 31st.

Membership dues help AAMSAZ maintain its collections and exhibits, research new collections and exhibits, explore oral histories, secure the past, examine the present, and influence the future.

Social Justice

The Equal Rights Amendment, which guarantees equal legal rights regardless of gender, was first introduced in 1923, though it didn’t pass Congress until 1972. However, the controversy surrounding it stopped many states from ratifying the amendment. It remains unratified today, nearly a century after it was introduced.  This Little Light – Let it Shine – on Injustice, discrimination, inequities.

Last month AAMSAZ Executive Director Beverely Elliott spoke at the Kol Ami Reformed Synagogue about the museum and social justice. Well, Anti-Semitism …. blatant racism has been there but it seems now there is empowerment where there is hate and as African Americans we are well of aware of this.  As humans we are in the battle together with all people.  Let’s all shine some light on this!
